What is Celebrate Life?

Celebrate Life 2010

Once a year, a special event takes place at each Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) hospital. Celebrate Life® honors the lives of our five-year cancer survivors.

This event is an important tradition at CTCA that commemorates our patients’ journey towards healing The two-day celebration includes a welcome reception, a tree-planting ceremony, a formal ceremony, Hope RoundsSM, and a luncheon party held on the grounds of each CTCA hospital.

During the tree-planting ceremony, CTCA plants a tree onsite to honor the survivors. We also donate money to the local park district, which plants a tree for each survivor in one of its parks. In addition, we honor each survivor with a personalized golden leaf added to the Tree of Life in the hospital’s lobby.

The formal ceremony features speeches from survivors, uplifting messages from CTCA leaders and clinicians, and keynote addresses from guest speakers. Celebrate Life also features Hope Rounds, an opportunity for survivors to share their stories of healing and pass on hope to patients in the hospital who are actively fighting cancer.

At CTCA, we celebrate with our patients as they reach milestones in their cancer journey. The annual Celebrate Life event is an opportunity for CTCA to honor the strength, determination and fighting spirit of our cancer survivors.

Each Celebrate Life event has a theme. Past themes have included “Laugh, Love, Live,” “Walking on Sunshine,”, “Some Kind of Wonderful,” and "How Sweet It Is!" The theme for Celebrate Life 2010 is Believe!
